About Auto-Owners Insurance

Encompass Insurance was a national personal insurance carrier that specialized in auto, home, and umbrella insurance for individuals and families. Encompass operated through independent insurance agents and focused on providing customizable coverage options for everyday insurance needs.

In recent years, Encompass Insurance was merged into National General Insurance, and the Encompass brand is no longer actively writing new policies. Existing Encompass policies were either transitioned to National General or continue to be serviced under legacy policy structures, depending on the policy and renewal cycle.

While Encompass no longer exists as a standalone insurance company, many policyholders still have active Encompass policies that require servicing, billing support, or guidance during claims and renewals.

What Encompass Insurance Policies Typically Covered

Prior to the merger, Encompass offered a range of personal insurance products, including:

Personal Insurance

  • Auto Insurance: Liability, collision, comprehensive, and optional coverages

  • Homeowners Insurance: Coverage for dwellings, personal property, and liability

Encompass & National General Today

After the merger, National General Insurance became responsible for servicing Encompass policies. This means:

  • Billing, claims, and policy servicing are handled through National General systems

  • Policy documents may still reference Encompass on older paperwork

  • Renewals or policy changes may result in updated branding or policy forms

For many policyholders, this transition happened automatically, but it can still cause confusion — especially when trying to access documents or report a claim.
